Performance Premieres from CFS at IFFA

Print versions of this news:
Increasing customers’ performance is the common theme for new products
CFS will display a range of performance enhancing equipment for preparation, marination, processing, slicing and packaging at its IFFA stand in Frankfurt, Germany (Hall 8, stand D06, 8 to 13 May 2010). The company is introducing best-in-class machines for on-weight slicing, fully automated robot loading and packaging, high-performance grinding, yield-enhancing multi-zone cooking, extremely fast defrosting and new model of the PowerPak thermoformer. A bowl cutter with enhanced control plus a brine injection and cooling combination complete the exhibits.
Yield and productivity performance
These ‘Performance Premieres’ are designed to deliver major performance improvements in terms of yield, productivity and cost effectiveness. Chief Executive Officer Brian McCluskie takes up the story, “Lifecycle Performance embodies improving yield and productivity as its core principles, and the most convincing way to demonstrate this is to show how we help customers lower their unit cost. When you consider purchasing of raw materials leaves little room for negotiation and end-customers dictate the sale prices, about the only opportunity left to improve profitability is to increase productivity and yield in the plant. The equipment we are launching at IFFA does exactly this.”

Packaging and slicing
The entry-level CFS PowerPak ST has joined the PowerPak thermoformer family to serve businesses working with smaller volumes and batches. At just 3.8 m long, it is ideal for where space is limited, yet it still delivers fully automated deep-draw packaging with high-end features. The CFS RobotLoader on the stand features one robot station and is integrated onto the CFS PowerPak NT thermoformer, which also features quite a number of performance enhancements. Very space efficient, it enables full automation when handling products like sliced portions, fresh meat or product pieces such as sausages, schnitzels and nuggets. The re-launched CFS MegaSlicer is shown for the first time with the CFS OptiScan, an x-ray based system that increases yield when slicing products like hams and bacon that have an irregular surface area and varying product density. Thanks to the data the OptiScan provides, costly giveaway is significantly reduced. The CFS MegaSlicer now also has the innovative Idle-cut knife system developed for the CFS GigaSlicer, which improves slice consistency and reduces sliver slices.

Preparation, marination and processing
For preparation and (further) processing, CFS has two major premieres on the stand, one that sets new standards for grinding fresh and frozen meat, and another for extremely high performance in-line cooking. The marination activity is represented by a CFS AccuJector brine injector coupled to the yield-enhancing CFS SuperChill brine cooler that adds an extra dimension of process control. Although not on the stand, the company is also launching its CFS ColdSteam defrosting solution that not only dramatically reduces defrosting time, but also eliminates drip loss (purge) and can even eliminate the need for costly N2 or CO2 cooling in some applications. A CFS CutMaster bowl cutter rounds off the displays, and this machine has been enhanced with new control software and a touch-screen panel.

300 years’ experience
CFS also celebrates 300 years’ collective experience in 2010, and will be highlighting the long tradition of innovation from the brands that have joined CFS over the years, including Koppens, Wolfking, Krämer+Grebe, Tiromat, Dixie Union, Aquarius, Scanio and Belam among others.

CFS Lifecycle Performance
CFS specializes in performance-focused solutions for the food industry, from a single machine or packaging material to a complete production line for the preparation, marination, processing, slicing and packaging of primarily meat, poultry, fish, seafood and cheese-based products. CFS ‘Lifecycle Performance’ supports the performance of food processors throughout the lifecycle of the equipment by helping meet operational challenges such as product variety, process flexibility, reducing the cost per kilogram and per pack, food safety and the environment. CFS product and packaging uses innovation to improve output and reduce operating cost for food processors.
