With a 1300 m2 stand – the largest at the show – it is an impressive showing with nine machines and three premieres from the company formerly known as Convenience Food Systems. These include the CFS FreshFormer for fresh meat forming, the CFS EasyFry XL high-performance fryer and the E-Tec P Freezer. This high capacity spiral freezer is a joint development with GEA Refrigeration Technologies who are also present on the GEA stand.
| | | | | | | | | | | Performance has a new name CFS brought over 300 years' collective experience in protein processing and packaging into GEA and the partnership has strengthened the company’s ability to innovate in a wider range of applications. The combined presence at Anuga FoodTec with its focus on performance gives visitors the first opportunity to view and discuss the total product program.
A broad portfolio The preparation activity is represented by the CFS CutMaster bowl chopper, a machine that features several hardware and software refinements to boost productivity and ensure consistent quality, including a touch-screen panel and software for process monitoring and recipe management. A CFS EcoCut CAP 2 fully automated multifunctional emulsifier, which is able to produce extremely stable emulsions with a wide range of granulation, is also present. The CFS PowerGrind, flagship of the grinder range and able to grind both fresh meat and frozen meat blocks without a worm change, rounds off the preparation exhibits. Further, the CFS YieldJector, which is a heavy-duty application based injector with a fine injection pattern for high accuracy injection of low profile and sensitive products, carries the flag for the marination activity.
Forming, frying and freezing The processing activity is highlighting three major new developments: the CFS FreshFormer, CFS EasyFry XL and E-Tec P Freezer. The CFS FreshFormer is designed specifically for use with smaller batches typical in fresh meat forming. Quick changes are facilitated by simplifying the removal of material from hopper, also resulting in less product give-away and therefore a higher yield. The CFS EasyFry XL is a high-performance frying system that features a high-speed kit and enhanced sediment removal system that enables producers to fry up to 5500 kg (12,000 lb) per hour. It is fitted with highly effective oil filtering technology to extend oil life as well as robust belt support system to triple the lifetime of the conveyor belt and reduce maintenance with at least 50%.
Presented at an exhibition for the first time, the new E-Tec P freezer combines the best of both GEA Refrigeration Technologies and GEA CFS. The spiral freezer with horizontal air flow provides the best solution for protein applications. Designed for high capacities up to 6000 kg/hr, shortest freezing times, efficient production and excellent access, the spiral freezer is the best solution for long operation between cleaning cycles.
Cutting edge packaging and slicing For slicing and packaging activities, a CFS MegaSlicer XXL, a CFS PowerPak XT, a CFS FlexLoader and a CFS SmartPacker CX180 hint at the depth of the product range at this end of the line. The CFS PowerPak XT is a fully featured form, fill and seal thermoformer that heads a range covering all capacities and requirements from a compact machine for smaller operations right up to the NT for very high volume operations. The CFS SmartPacker family set the performance and reliability standards for vertical packaging of a wide range of products – from confectionery, cheese and salad to frozen and fresh meat, fish, vegetables and potato products. The model on the stand is a proven high speed continuous bagger for packing up to 180 mm bag width. The GEA slicer program is represented by the CFS MegaSlicer XXL, a high-volume machine that can be supplied with a range of optical and x-ray-based scanning technology to ensure on-weight portions and very high yield.
The GEA stand (B29 – D28) is in Hall 4.1 at the Cologne exhibition complex, a different location to where CFS previously exhibited at Anuga. However, strategically placed information panels will guide visitors to the new location, and inform about the company’s new GEA identity.
Robotic-Pack-Line In addition to the packaging and slicing equipment on the general GEA stand in Hall 4.1, a CFS PowerPak RT in combination with the new CFS PowerGuide line converger will be displayed on the Robot-Pack-Line stand (C10 in Hall 8). This 2376 m2 exhibit is a cooperation between many companies to promote automated packaging in the food industry, and features several complete lines. One of these lines includes the GEA equipment.
